Asa Observatory
Let's take a look at the astronomical miracle from the outside - the Assy-Turgen Observatory. Situated on the high-mountain plateau of Assy in the Zailiyskiy Alatau, it belongs to the V. G. Fesenkov Astrophysical Institute (AFIF). This is the best place for observing stars and planets.

The current route is one of the most beautiful in the Almaty region. In one daylight hours we will see amazingly beautiful places. We will visit the Bear Waterfall, reach the famous observatory on the Asy plateau, popularly nicknamed "Chupa-Chups" because of its bizarre shape. The plateau offers a stunning 360-degree view. We will see high snow-capped peaks on the horizon, wide and blooming alpine meadows. On the way to the Bartogay reservoir, we will drive fords along the high-mountain plateau, see the life of nomads in yurts, grazing herds of cows, horses and other animals. We will overcome difficult mountain passes, see red rocks and go to the pearl of the Bartogay reservoir. Throughout the entire journey, amazing views will delight our eyes. This one-day tour will give a lot of impressions and emotions.
Return to Almaty
Return to Almaty. On the way you can stop for dinner at a cafe.
Trip Timing
- 1 day
- 2 hours (8:00-10:00). Almaty - Turgen Gorge.
- 1 hour (10:00-11:00). Hike to Bear Waterfall (30 min), stop, photo.
- 2 hours (11:00-13:00). Transfer to the observatory on the Asy Plateau.
- 30 min (13:00-13:30). Lunch.
- 3 h (13:30-16:30). Transfer to the Bartogay reservoir, along the way stops at the most picturesque places for photos and videos, rest.
- 30 min (16:30-17:00). Bartogay Reservoir. Rest and photos.
- 3 h (17:00-20:00). Return to Almaty. On the way you can stop for dinner at a cafe.
