The Charyn Canyon is named after the Charyn River, which flows along its bottom. It is located almost two hundred kilometers from Almaty, near the border with China. This natural monument is part of the Charyn National Park, established in 2004. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Kazakhstan. It is often called a miniature version of the Grand Canyon in the United States, but tourists who have visited both remark on the uniqueness of our canyon. The Charyn Canyon amazes visitors with its grandeur and bizarre shapes. The incredibly beautiful landscape captivates the mind. In the recent past, this was a secluded spot among the growing trees, where one could find shelter from the scorching summer sun in the shade of their crowns. Now everything here has been built for a comfortable stay for tourists. Gazebos, bungalows, and traditional yurts offer a glimpse into the life of nomads and an insight into the culture and customs of the Kazakh people. There’s also a café on site where you can sample national cuisine. The tourist infrastructure here has now developed significantly, allowing tourists to relax in comfort.

On the way to the canyon we pass the market (bazaar) in the village of Baiseit. There you can always buy food, vegetables, fruits, snacks for the road. Or stop at a cafe. The road to Charyn now takes less time than before. Most of the way goes along the Western Europe-Western China highway (New Silk Road). *There is an opportunity to go down and up to the canyon in an open eco-taxi (*not included in the tour price).
