What awaits you on this trip

Usek River Valley
The Usek River Valley in the Dzungarian Alatau is a quiet, wide expanse amidst majestic mountains. The river, swift and clear, cuts through green meadows and rocky riverbeds, adding the vibrant sound of its flow to the landscape. A sense of pristine nature reigns here: high ridges, bright steppe expanses, and tranquility make this valley an ideal place for relaxation and contemplation of nature.

Overnight in tents
Overnight in our tents – a million-star hotel. All around you is the silence of the mountains and steppes, the soft starlight, and the fresh, cool air. The tent becomes a small home in the wilderness: warm and cozy inside, with the vibrant sounds of the night, the crackling fire, and a sense of complete freedom outside. This is a time to unwind from the hustle and bustle and feel at one with nature.

Holy tree Aulie-Agash
One of the most revered places where nature and spirituality intertwine. The enormous, ancient trunk with its spreading branches creates a sense of strength and silence. Travelers come here to ask for well-being, make wishes, and tap into the centuries-old energy stored in this extraordinary tree.

Petroglyphs
We'll see petroglyphs—ancient stone carvings preserved on the cliffs in the open air, where they were created thousands of years ago. They depict animals, hunting scenes, and symbols that convey the lives and beliefs of ancient people. Amidst wind, sun, and rain, these carvings preserve a connection to the past and allow you to experience the breath of history right in nature.

Off-road vehicle trip
We'll travel in comfortable SUVs off-road: serpentines, canyons, and steppe expanses unfold before us. We'll see hard-to-reach corners of nature and reach places where people rarely go.

Team
Our team is a group of like-minded individuals united by a love of the mountains, wildlife, and new discoveries. We value comfort and safety, support each other in any adventure, and make every trip a vibrant, unforgettable experience.
Route plan
General route plan
Almaty – Holy tree Aulie-Agash – Usek river valley – Panoramic point and valley – Zharkent – Almaty.
General description of the route
The route passes through the majestic Dzungarian Alatau mountains, offering panoramic views of snow-capped peaks and alpine meadows. The Usek River, crystal clear and fast-flowing, meanders picturesquely among cliffs and gorges. During the tour, we'll stop at beautiful photo spots and soak up the secluded atmosphere. It's the perfect combination of active recreation, adventure, and photogenic landscapes. We'll also stop at the sacred Aulie-Agash tree to make a wish and see the rock paintings near the Usek River.
More about the route
Day 1.
We’ll travel towards Southern Dzungaria (Zharkent). Along the way, we’ll stop and visit the sacred Aulie-Agash tree, after which we’ll drive into the mountains along the Usek River along a beautiful road. Upon arrival, we’ll take an easy hike to a mini-panoramic viewpoint and see rock carvings (petroglyphs) in the wild, under the open sky. Afterwards, we’ll return to the cars, set up camp, cook a camping dinner, and sit by the fire, enjoying the camping atmosphere at the “Thousand Stars” hotel.
Day 2.
In the morning, after breakfast, we’ll pack up camp and drive in our SUVs to an incredibly beautiful panorama of the Usek River valley. The road itself is incredibly picturesque, passing through alpine meadows where cattle graze, with beautiful mountain peaks in the background. After visiting the panoramic viewpoint and taking a walk there, we’ll return through the mountain valley to the city of Zharkent, where we’ll have a late lunch/dinner at a café. Zharkent is famous for its cuisine and lagman (a type of meat dish). After a hearty dinner, we’ll head to Almaty along a well-maintained toll road.
*The panoramic viewpoint and valley tour are subject to good, dry weather conditions. We won’t be able to drive there in heavy rain. In this case, an alternative option is to visit the famous mosque in Zharkent and a stop at the wooden lake.
