The unborn volcano
These mountains were formed in the distant past, in the Paleozoic era, on the border of the Carboniferous and Permian, a large volcano was born here. It melted the rocks, but never exploded. A giant granite plug remained in this place, closing the crater forever. So this place remained an unborn volcano.

Holy Cave
According to legend, grandfather (Ata) Bektau hid in a cave during the war between the Kazakhs and the Dzungars, where they could not find him due to the fact that the cave was not located below, in a visible place, but on a mountain. Bektau had to sit in this cave for a long time, waiting for the enemies to leave, and there was no water, so he could only pray. Allah heard his prayers and a source of fresh water appeared in the cave.

Almaty – Bektau-Ata
A unique place called Bektau-Ata is located quite far from the metropolis of Almaty. This place is interesting for its unusual shapes and architecture. This massif got its name from a legend that says that grandfather (Ata) Bektau hid in a cave (Auliye-Tas) during the war of the Kazakhs with the Dzungars, where they could not find him due to the fact that the cave was not located below, in a visible place, but on the mountain. Bektau had to sit in this cave for a long time, waiting for the enemies to leave, and there was no water, he could only pray. Allah heard his prayers and a source of fresh water appeared in the cave. Which flows there to this day. The cave and water are considered holy and healing. Believers often visit this place. From a scientific point of view, these mountains were formed in the distant past, in the Paleozoic era, on the border of the Carboniferous and Permian, a large volcano was born here.
